Hello friends,
Today, June 19, was the day of our weekly Message meeting in Ankara. During the day, Eduardo and Peter had to fix some important issues at the bank and Yüksel and Yusuf (lawyer) went with us. It took quite a while but we managed to sort everything out since we met an employee who spoke perfect English. Yüksel went to IMGE bookstore in Kizilay to make sure the Book of the Message was quite visible and we set a date to meet later on. Yusuf went with us to Pamukkale to buy Eduardo’s bus ticket for tomorrow, when he is going to Izmir, together with Dario, Ana L, and his daughter, Ana, to visit the Pergamon ruins. Yusuf then went to his office and Eduardo and Peter went to Kizilay to catch up with Yüksel. We saw the book very visible in the bookstore and we continued to Urmanci cafe to eat something. There we met Olcay, whom we hadn’t seen for some months because he was doing military service. So it was a very joyful meeting and we had çay together. We also met with Olcay’s partner and invited them to the Message meeting later.
At 4:30 we went home and Eduardo and Peter rested for a while before the meeting. Ayman called at 6:00 to let us know that he was coming and arrived 10 minutes later. We had a good çay and started a good-humored and friendly chat. A while later, Handan came with her friend, Öndün, who attended for the first time. Mehdi also told us he would be arriving soon and Yüksel came, announcing that he would prepare soup and pasta for after the meeting. The mood was animated, at 7:30 Aylin came, followed by Yusuf. So we were 9 people and an animated interchange was produced with different things going on at the same time. Yüksel was preparing food, helped by Aylin and then we were all helping out in the various tasks to prepare a Kurdish soup that needs many different ingredients. In the meantime, people were talking to each other and altogether, in a beautiful mood of comradeship. Yüksel told us that Ayten and Özgür (who had been in Attigliano Park in May) would drop by later on, since they wouldn’t make it on time for the ceremonies but could manage the friendly dinner.
So at 8:00 we all moved to the salita/living room to start ceremonies. Peter proposed to do 3 ceremonies this time, ending with the Recognition ceremony, since the text went very well with the country’s situation and to remember the coherent direction to follow in front of so much abuse and violence. Everyone agreed to do the ceremony.
Aylin guided the Service and Well Being, very well and very connected, which helped everyone concentrate on the steps. At the end of the Service, the Salita was well charged of energy and good feelings and we started the Well Being. We all wanted to send well being and force to the good people of Turkey and Syria and we also asked for our loved ones who were needy. Again, it was very intense ending with very heartfelt hugs and the reciprocal transmission of good feelings and light. Then we distributed the book so that our friends could read the text in different languages. Dutch, English, Spanish and Turkish. A wonderful chaos of languages. When the ceremony finished we were charged with joy and energy and we went back to the kitchen to continue preparing dinner, in the midst of some very animated talks about the Recognition ceremony.
Ayman, Yüksel and Aylin finished preparing the soup and pasta while the other set up the salita/living room, setting the talbe and putting the dishes. It was an energy flow like the one we have in our parks. Each one doing something of their own initiative. A union. It reminded us of the Principle we meditated on during the Service: Things are well when they move together, not in isolation. Ayten and Özgür had arrived in the meantime and also Olcay and his friend, a good surprise. So, finally, we were 13 persons.
The good, soft and joyful human atmosphere stayed on during dinner, inundating everyone’s hearts and minds.
At the end of a good and tasty dinner, Yusuf read a Kurdish poem from his poetry book we keep in the salita’s library. It was another united and beautiful moment and we thanked Yusuf for the soft sensitivity of his words. Eduardo filmed everything.
And again a volunteer dynamics of washing the dishes in the kitchen, Ayten joyfully cleaning the plates while Yusuf prepared and served çay for everyone. The talks between various groups continued in the salita.
It all lasted until 11 pm when everyone went to their houses, happy and with reciprocal gratitude.
Before we began the Well Being ceremony, we communicated that many friends in many other places and latitudes were also doing their meetings, doing askings for the people in Turkey, and after the ceremony, Peter communicated that he received many messages from people in other places, expressing their enthusiasm with the nonviolent protest which began in Turkey two days ago when a person stood still for 6 hours in silence, in Taksim and was rapidly imitated in many cities of the country. An expression of a new sensitivity which is gaining ground and already reached Brazil where many people are doing the same.
We think that they were 5 hours of very interconnected being together, to strengthen the good and strong in unsure times.
There are lots of pictures showing the atmosphere and Eduardo’s video on Y’s reading.
A warm and strong hug to all,
Handan, Ayman, Mehdi, Aylin, Yusuf, Yüksel, Eduardo & Peter
